GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT (GSE)
What is Grapefruit Seed Extract?
Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a broad spectrum antimicrobial
compound synthesized in a unique process from the seeds and pulp of
grapefruits. The final product is a combination of naturally occurring
elements including bioflavonoids, amino acids, fatty acids,
saccharides, phenolic compounds, tocopherols, ascorbic acid and
dehydroascorbic acid.
What is the history of GSE?
GSE was discovered in 1976. Its commercial use soon began in the
agricultural industry where it was used as a mold inhibitor and in the
cosmetic industry as a preservative. It has been sold in health food
stores and by health practitioners for almost a decade.
Does GSE have other names?
It has several different names depending on the manufacturer. GSE has
been sold under the name of "Standardized Extract of Grapefruit",
"Grapefruit Extract", "Citrus Seed Extract", "Bioflavonoid
Concentrate", as well as "Grapefruit Seed Extract".
What forms does GSE come in?
GSE comes in two forms-liquid and powder. The liquid is more versatile
and perhaps a little more effective, and since it has a bitter taste is
usually added to fruit juice or herbal teas before being consumed. The
powder is encapsulated, but if desired, can be opened and put into food
or drink, and has an acceptable taste.
What is GSE used for?
GSE has a wide variety of uses.
Grapefruit Seed Extract has
gained a reputation as being supportive for people with digestive
upsets, flus, colds, and sore throats. It has been recommended by
several leading medical doctors/authors for relief of symptoms
associated with yeast imbalance. A wide array of topical applications
also exist.
It is recommended by nutritionists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and
other health practitioners as an effective alternative product in their
practice.

A multi-purpose extract used by health practitioners world-wide as
nutritional support for many conditions of ill health, including those
of the stomach, intestines and more. Excellent as a sore throat gargle,
dental rinse and for numerous skin and scalp conditions. Used as a
broad spectrum cleanser for vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry and more.
Due to its concentration (40% Citricidal) THIS
PRODUCT MUST ALWAYS BE DILUTED.
Under no circumstances should you encapsulate this liquid.
Internal Use:
(never use full strength)
Orally - 8-12 drops mixed well in 5 oz. or more of
juice, tea or water, 2-3 times per day, before, during or after meals
(or take one ProSeed Vegicap 1-3 times per day).
Diarrhea - Take 10-15 drops of ProSeed 4 times per
day in juice or herbal tea (or take 1-3 ProSeed Vegicaps per day).
Consult your physician if condition persists.
Throat Gargle - Thoroughly stir 8-12 drops, or empty
1-2 Vegicaps, into 6 oz. of water. Gargle as often as needed, only as
directed.
Nasal Rinse - Add no more than 2 drops of ProSeed to
2 oz. of distilled or purified water. Use as a nasal douche as directed
by your physician or pharmacist.
External Use:
Facial Cleanser (normal skin or acne) - Moisten face
with water. Add 3-4 drops to still wet hands and massage into skin
avoiding contact with eyes (rinse thoroughly with water if eye contact
occurs). You may also add ProSeed to your favorite bar or liquid soap.
Scalp Treatment (including dandruff control) - Mix
7-10 drops of ProSeed with the amount of shampoo you normally apply to
your hair. Massage into scalp and leave on for at least 2 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with water, avoiding contact with eyes.
Warts - Place 1 drop of Liquid Concentrate directly
on wart twice a day. (Avoid contact with eyes) May have to use for
several weeks.
Other Uses:
Vegetable/Fruit or Meat/Poultry Wash - Add 25-30
drops to sink filled with cold water. Briefly soak vegetable, fruit,
meat or poultry. Spray Washing - Add 15-20 drops to 32 oz. spray
bottle. Fill with water, spray on fruits or vegetables.
Humidifier/Vaporizer - add 5-10 drops to tank when
washing. Rinse with fresh water.
Water Pik type unit - add 5 drops to each
reservoir-full. Stir well.
Laundry - to control mold and odors add 25-30 drops
to each load.
Toothbrush cleansing - stir 8-12 drops into 1/2 cup
water. Soak toothbrush 10 minutes and rinse.
CAUTION: Use only as directed. Always dilute before use. Keep out of
reach of children. Avoid all contact with eyes. Do not use on sensitive
areas of the body unless fully diluted as directed. If irritation
occurs, flush thoroughly with water. If pregnant, consult your
physician before using.
